The Association of Hawaii Archivists Education Committee serves to seek out, plan, and coordinate continuing education events for AHA members. Events include Digital Archivist Specialist (DAS) and Arrangement & Description (A&D) certificate program webinars and live workshops coordinated through the Society of American Archivists (SAA), and preparation for the Certified Archivist (CA) exam.

Fall Preservation Workshops
Disaster Preparedness/Emergency Response/IPM with Malia Van Heukelem
When: October 20, 9:00 am- 12:00 pm
Where: UH Manoa Hamilton Library Moir Reading Room
This workshop will cover an introduction to disaster planning and response for collections. It will be split between a presentation with questions and answers with a brief hands on salvage exercise.
Instructor Bio: Malia was hired last December as Art Archivist Librarian for the Jean Charlot Collection and the Archive of Hawaii Artists & Architects, at the University of Hawaii. Previously, she was a preservation management specialist at Hamilton Library and collections manager for both the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts’ Art in Public Places Program and ‘Iolani Palace.
Workshop is free for current members and limited to 15 participants.

Fall 2018 DAS Webinars
The AHA Education Committee resumes Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) webinars this fall for those who are interested in pursuing the DAS Certificate from SAA and/or are involved with born-digital and other electronic records. Many thanks to Punahou School Archivist Kylee Mar for having her institution host the webinars. Seating is limited to 20 participants.

Each webinar will be $15 and can be paid via PayPal or check. If you intend to pursue the DAS Certificate, you will need to pass the examinations associated with each course. There is a separate cost to the exam and is NOT included in the cost of the webinar. If you decide to pay by PayPal, an invoice will be sent to you after you complete and submit your registration form. For those paying by check, please make the checks payable to Association of Hawai’i Archivists. Checks will be collected on the day of the webinar viewing.
