Kalaupapa words & images

Seventeen of us visited the Kalaupapa National Historical Park July 15-16, 2011.
Here are some impressions from that trip from our group.

At Kalaupapa
Mongoose dancing in the brownie pan
Deer barking under the July moon
Evening voices from the doctor’s porch
Ma & fuzzy monk seals on Nurse’s beach
Jagged stone vowels and dates
Three ahupuaa, 5 gallons of gas/week, 11 residents, 26 switchbacks
One guava walking stick I left behind.
